That is ridiculous!

Is it just me tho, or is Bittorrent not the most efficient program. (In terms of network usage.) But I guess by default, the whole "upload and ratio" elements are the core of the program.

does seem real crazy... anytime I connect to a torrent, I see only a few hundred users at a time... popular tv shows get a few thousand connects at a time... how many different torrent sites/links are there ? I would never guess it's 35% of all traffic ?

Actually when you think about it... it's an always-used stream so you pit that against web page loads here and there... that figure doesn't seem too impossible.

Yup, something that was small and good got into the hands of the masses.
Expect lawsuits soon.

From that article:
"The total population logged into the major P2P networks at any one point of time is about 8 million sharing over 10 PetaBytes of data..."

I don't think so.
10 PB = 20-25 large DC hubs. I've seen 5-6000 people share over 1 PB multiple times.
Much more is shared.

What they probably mean by sharing is transfers in progress. Not 'sharing' as in how much they have shared.

I think people can figure that out themselves. Although you should've mentioned that it's not the site with the correct spelling.....

Try reading the article. It lists several legal and "illegal" websites.

So that means 10 PB of bandwith in use every second.
It makes sense. :)
