I was going to order the xfx 9600gt for $185 shipped cause I only play games @1280x1024 or 1600x1200.

I ended up deciding on the MSI 8800GT OC for $225 shipped with a $20 rebate bringing the cost to $205 . I hope that the extra pixel shaders will come in handy when new games comeout and require a lot. The only thing that scares me is the msi warranty is based on the cards manufacturing date rather then purchase date ...*** is that lol! You think I made the right choice?

Hopefully I'll be able to run:
Company Of Heroes and Company Of Heroes Opposing Fronts
World In Conflict
Battlefield 2142
Far Cry
Call Of Duty 4
Rainbow Six Vegas 2

all at high settings

I believe:

Right choice for 1600x1200.

Not right choice for 1280x1024.

you've made a good choice and this card will last you at least 2 years at max details except for crysis which you dont intend playing.

whats your CPU? if you start lagging, upgrade to a good dual core CPU like an E8400 or something.

You'll be very happy with that card. It'll run everything you want at max settings without issue.

Why do you ask if you made the right choice after the purchase? Wouldn't it have been better to ask beforehand?

Yeah it would have been better before, but I didn't want to have another 9600gt vs 8800gt oc cause it seems like a lot of other people have. I just want to hear your opinions. I will be using an intel e2180 overclocked to 3ghz which will probly hold this card back, but I can always upgrade to a quad core or dual core in a year or so

Your CPU won't be a problem at the resolutions you're planning on using. Until games begin to use the CPU more than they do, most games will continue to be limited by the graphics card.
