Maybe I'm just getting old or maybe I'm a Scrooge, but I don't care much for adult birthdays anymore. To me, there are only a few times when you really go all out for birthdays, and when I mean all out, I mean party like you partied in college.

A: 18. You can vote, buy cigarettes, and buy pr0n legally. Celebrate that pr0n privilege!

B: 21. You can pretty much go wherever you want in terms of social places. Drink till she looks hot!

C: 25. You can rent a car without being bent over and it's the height of being young, strong, and healthy without putting much effort into it. Hallelujah! It's all downhilll from here.

I have friends who still party every year on their birthdays like they're still 21. They have huge dinners with 20+ people, then go out to the bars later to drink. For my birthday, it's hot wings and football at the local bar with 3-4 of my close friends. Enough excitement for one night.

What say you, OT? What's your view on adult birthdays?

Birthdays feel like a time for contemplation and self examination rather than partying.

Maybe it's just me...

you sound like a debbie downer.

birthdays and special occasions are when i prefer to go out with a huge group rather than randomly going out to bars on the weekends.

I've never been a big birthday person, I don't really like to celebrate my birthday. If a friend is having a birthday, I'll try to do something for/with him/her but I can't stand those "hey hey everyone look at me it's my birthday" people/nights out.

Nay...birthdays just piss me off...

Buy me a card if you must...but otherwise, no gifts or celebrations, and if you get the restaurant staff to sing "Happy Birthday" to me, I'm gonna kick your ass for days.

Now that my kids are over 30, they get a card for their birthday...and that's it. Birthdays and Christmas are for little kids.

it's one day a year when I can be totally self-centered and not feel bad about it ;)

I don't do anything big for my birthday, but I hate wasting it too... this year I went to see Green Day, treated myself to a night in a luxury hotel, and (purely coincidentally) went out for dinner/drinks with someone.

Well for my wife's birthday I baked for a chocolate pound cake, made her breakfast, lunch and dinner and then relaxed with her. She usually does something similar for me.

there's a time when you should stop giving a shit about birthdays. that time is age 10. i am willing to make exceptions for girls and famous historical figures, but i can't promise to remember either.

Hate them. Never enjoyed birthdays and do everything I can to avoid celebrating them.

I have never celebrated my birthday, and even at my workplace there are instructions that my birthday is not to me mentioned or celebrated in any way, shape or form (they are always wanting to throw parties for employee birthdays for some reason).

I don't celebrate birthdays, Mithramas, halloween, mother's day etc. because they are tainted with false religious traditions and aren't biblical.

Not a huge fan of Christmas... but I've had 38 birthdays and I'm ready to celebrate 39. I love birthdays. I don't expect a card or gifts but I do expect a PARTY...

Hell yeah. Celebrate your life for christsakes... Enjoy it!

27 here, never much cared for birthday parties. I do enjoy going out with some close friends for dinner and some drinks, but I've never partied till I passed out on any of my birthday anniversaries.

Mines 2 days after xmas so I never really celebrate mine. But 3 out of the 4 last years I've been out of the country over the xmas and new years ever period which is always cool. I go to people's parties when I get an invite though.

Not a big birthday person either for my own, but I'll go to others if they have them.
