Nope, I mean, you don't take them for a week during mentration anyway. According to my fiancee's doctor, you're safe as soon as you start taking them if you start the first sunday after mentration ends. If you start taking them at some random point between cycles (which you normally dont) you should wait 1 week.

In my experience (well, my partner's) it starts causing irregular menstrual cycles and prolonged bleeding immediately...

According to my fiancee's doctor, you're safe as soon as you start taking them if you start the first sunday after mentration ends. If you start taking them at some random point between cycles (which you normally dont) you should wait 1 week.

Sort of correct . . . although odds are in favor of ovulation roughly in the middle of a cycle . . . ovulation may occur at ANY time for a particular woman during a particular cycle. Which means yes it is possible to get pregnant DURING menses.

Depo works immediately b/c it makes the uterus unsuitable for implantation almost immediately.
