Birds are so stupid.....

I have a cockateil.

Anyways, she is a tough little thing. In her free time she stands set to the vienette-doors that open our living room to the deck.
She is fasinated by the squirrels and they are too.

It's really fuuny, acutally, having a squirrel and a bird looking at each other through a pane of glass...

Anyways, I was watching a movie and she had gotten out of her cage and was resting on my arm. Suddenly she noticies the tv's reflection in the windows....that was funny as hell.

Imagine a half-pound bird with a "WTF!" look on its face, constantly turning its heard in shock. IT was funny as hell.

Left, right, left right.

damn birds....

My Talking Lory does nothing to his reflection...... But, he knows when my family is eating ice cream, he can spot it everytime. He stays in our living room, but can see the kitchen from it. If we go in the kitchen and do nothing, he does nothing. If we open the fridge, she starts to sqwauk a little, if we are eating, he sqwauks a little more, but if we eat ice cream, he become the bird from hell w/ ear piercing screams, flying around in his cage, etc. He has to have his ice cream too. 😉 I wouldn't say that's stupid (but then agian, he isn't a dumb cockatiel).

Problem is I treat her like a dog..she'll be g for food, sing on command blah blah blah....

She loves doritos too....i open the bag...even in another room, and she won't shut up until I feed her...

Imagine a little half-point bird with a grin on its face munching on a dorito 1 /12 times her size....

heh...many years of joy...

Also, mashed potatos and stuff....she gets it all over her face digging in.

Imagine a little half-point bird with a grin on its masshed-potato covered face.

Also, seeing her eat rice is awesome too.....the kernals are like a watermelon to her.....and because its cooked, mashed rice is all over her face....

let's not even get into the ramen noodles

😎😀

Well yes, compared to humans they are. Do you expect them to not be fascinated or intrigued?

My statement was a derivitive of "aren't birds cute"

Except I'm a man....she's cute...I just cant say that in public....😛

You have to be insane to own birds. My grandmother had some. All they did was make noise and poop.

As for them being stupid, their brains are about the size of a pea.

Get a talking bird, they're much better, and do more than make noise a poop. You can actually verbally interact with them 🙂

I was interested in that but I was affraid they'd fight...

My bird is TUFF...

You definitely won't believe this:

When I'm vacuming, If I ma on the same floor as she is she WILL come after the vacum cleaner. I mean a 20 POUND EURKA THAT IS NOISY AS HELL. Seriously, she attacks the thing like crazy. Sometimes I have to take her away because she doesn't let me get anything done...that and running her over accidently isn't in my plans.

What's funny is my s. dad has one of those big excercise balls....she runs like hell when she sees that.

I have a couple of Quaker Parrots and they are smart as hell! They both talk (very large vocabulary) and I can interact with them. I even have them potty trained to poop on command. They both have very unique personalities too.

My sister has a Lutino Cockatiel and it's not very smart at all. Actually, it's kind of weird, but I think it got that way because my sister's old roommate probably tortured the poor thing.

I think birds are smart as hell considering their brain size. Some of the larger parrots like African Gray's, Amazon's and Cockatoo's rival 5 year old humans in intelligence.

I really need to get one of those.

They actually live wild in Chicago (among other places) too.

Here's a link

They are illegal in some states because they were thought to be an agricultural threat. They are an agricultural threat (they love corn!) in their native land in South America. I was down in Chicago a few years back snapping photos of the Feral Quakers (They are also referred to as Monk Parakeets) in Hyde Park (Chicago) and could barely stand to take my gloves off for a few minutes to snap the photos because it was so cold. They are very hearty birds and can withstand the colder climates. Oh.. They are also the only Parrot that builds a large communal nest.

i like their "noises" and they are just too cute (well to me anyway)!

the pooping is a problem though. a lot of cleaning needed.

Cockatiels are great. I've had my tiel for......7 years now, holy shit.

He's gotten a little more ornery with age... but I can't imagine having a better bird. He's very sweet, but demands attention all the time. I've had two others, females, and they weren't very friendly at all.

He does the weirdest things sometimes. Countless times I've wished I had the video camera.

Oh yeah, my tiel is OBSESSED with my feet.

His cage is open 24/7, and when I'm relaxing with the shoes off he's always there bobbin his head up and down, whistling, ext when I wiggle my feet.
