There is no way that there should be any permanent damage from bird poop in 2 hours. Try using some clay.
Unles you scrubbed it off with something abrasive, bird poop should not damage your car...
Bird poop is acidic usually but not always. Clay should help. The problem is many car manufactures do a piss poor ultra thin job with the clear coat and paint. My old 78 Camero had some thick ass paint on it, I could see it where it cracked and separated from the metal but was still hanging on. My Honda's however, I can peel the paint clean off with a power washer if I"m not careful...already happened on my Civic. It was so thin that I could rub my finger across where it peeled off and could not feel it.
Bird poop will eat through paint. On my last car it went through both the clear coat and color below.
Use a clay bar with car wash or detail spray to ensure everything is off. If you can still run your fingers across it and feel it use a good correcting polish to remove the etching and smooth out the clear coat.
That would be the difference between lead-and non-lead paint. Current paint isn't "thin" just to be cheap, in fact it adhears much better, even more so with current day cars with so much plastic.
