Bioware employees creating fake DA2 reviews on metacritic

EA:
Killed bullfrog & all franchises
Killed westwood & all franchises
Killed maxis & everything except the sims

Activision has a long way to go before they can come close to doing the damage EA has done to PC gaming.

They might as well have killed the Sims. Sims 3 was atrocious, not to mention the out of the ass DLC.

So you gave the game, and you never even played it?

You played the demo, and read other peoples reviews to make your choice - so sad.

No. I know what I like and dislike in games. There are things that will put me off even an otherwise well done game. Say, for example, things like poor interface. Which is one of the problems DA2 has with it's PoV decisions. ETC. Knowing this, I can look at decently written reviews and tell whether the game will sit well with me. Before wasting my money on something I don't care for, like Spaceman Spiff, and then complaining bitterly.

There are enough things that I do not like about the way DA2 was put together to make this a 'no buy' til it gets real inexpensive.

That's fucking low. I loved Mass Effect 2 because it really is an amazing game. But if they find out it's not perfect, they falsify good reviews. That is just the lowest of the low in the gaming world. A way to pull in more revenue, and in a way, slightly lower than what Activision has been doing.

That's exactly what demos and reviews are for. The demo showed me how poorly it runs without new drivers, and the reviews confirmed it... So I won't buy it either. Seems like a logical choice.

You know we can't rent PC games right?

First reaction was blech!. Second reaction was ack! Third reaction is that I don't read user reviews as most sound like they were written by 12 year olds, and as long as there's no payola going on I don't really care. Do I approve? Hell no, it's scummy and if a concerted effort by Bioware then that's just pathetic.

My rating has improved over time for DA2. I would guage DA:O as being an 8.5 for me and DA2 as a 6.5-7.0. When I first started playing it was probably a '5' but the game has gotten a little better. This is a solid game on it's own, but the fact that it followed a very strong game makes it that much more worse to me. There is no reason that Bioware could not have easily made this another 8+ title with some tweaking and added features. Instead, they decided to go the other route and cut some of the best parts from DA:O (art, etc.).

That's really the worst part of the game... Minus a few of the design decisions and the apparent cut corners due to EA's pressure, this could have been a fantastic game; instead it's merely good. I have that in the back of my head every time I fire it up to continue.

Agreed. To be honest, I would have welcomed a buggy DA2 that matured over time into something great. That way, I at least know in 6-9 months I have a n amazing game to play. Neither DLC nor patches will not fix the issues we have with DA2.

On the plus side, the way missions/quests are received and tracked is about the best I can think of from a RPG. I like the way you can view the map and see what quests are applicable. It would be cool to turn off the markers for the quests though; it is helpful to be pointed in the right direction, but I don't really want a marker telling me where to go everytime within each map. I want to explore and find it.

Morrowind was one of my earliest and favorite RPGs, and I remember when doing quests, NPCs gave you actual directions, and there were no map markers. "Take the road north." "When you come to a fork in the road, take a left." Etc. I loved that. Some places were hard to find based on vague directions, but I still enjoyed it. Then Oblivion came out and basically gave you a GPS. Immersion gone. 🙁

Map markers are helpful for those who are short on time, but there definitely needs to be an option to turn that feature off for those who like to explore.

There were mods that removed it from Oblivion, but that doesn't fix the directions given by NPCs. I too greatly enjoyed Morrowind in this regard. They actually gave realistic directions (sometimes purposely vague) so you would have to actually explore and find what you were looking for.

Morrowind is still the best single player RPG I've ever played. Good to see some other people still hold it in high esteem. I love to hear people poop on the graphics because I remember loading it on my Xbox when it released and saying to myself, "OMG, this is amazing, a huge step forward in RPG graphics".

It is my favorite as well, but it is completely different from Bioware's style.

KotOR is also one of my favorites, though. DA2 doesn't really live up to Bioware's name, however 🙁

I bought a Geforce 4 4200ti just to play it. Looked stunning at the time. I remember being amazed by the water.

User reviews on metacritic are absolutely worthless anyway. Still a crappy thing to do, though.
