Biostar X58 for i7 920

Hey guys, I live in Brazil, and I just came back from the USA, I Bought a i7 920, a GTX 280, 3x2GB 1600MHz OCZ Platinum, WD VelociRaptor 300GB GLFS, X-fi Titanium Fatal1ty and a Patrior Warp V2 32GB. I did not find the Motheboard in the stores, so I´ll have to buy it in my country. IS the Biostar X58 a good motherboard? I am no enthusiat overclocker, l´ll put my i7 at maximum at 3.5GHz. Its very cheap here, it´s like R$ 1.100 while the Intel X58 is R$1500.
(PS: $1=R$2.3)

Other thing, is it worth to install the OS in the Patrior Warp V2 SSD 32GB or it will have a better performance if installed in the HD?

Thanks you.

I've heard some good things about the board. Their P45 Tpower board was well received here in the US (elsewhere too, I think). However, I haven't heard alot about this new board. The Asus P6T/dlx, EVGAx58 and Gigabyte X58 boards seem to get the majority of the press here. Customer service, regular bios updates and a "community" of users is what is important to me.

For me, EVGA fills those needs quite well. My dilemma now is I recently purchased a 2nd I7 920 and want a different board to go with it. I've narrowed it down to Asus or Gigabyte.
The Biostar was very tempting, but once again - not many users to bounce ideas off, ? customer service and not much activity in the bios dept.

If available I'd go for the P6T or one of the Gigabyte's. The only issue with the Gigabyte I've heard of are reports of a squeal that occurs during file downloads. I don't know if these are isolated reports though.

Hope this helps

Well, it looks like the Biostar is my only option, and i am not such of a overclocker, so it will do fine for me. 3x2GB 1600MHz, will it need a Bios Update?

What about the SSD Question, i´ve read that it is not that fast, so I don´t know if it is worth to install the OS in it.

Yes and it's very annoying. I used a Linux live cd and didn't hear it so maybe it has something to do with Vista 64.

According to one of the threads I disabled C1E (which is really not needed unless you want to save little bit of electricity) and there is no sound at all!

Don't worry about the SSD's at this point in the game. Wait for them to come down in price. My vote is for the Biostar motherboard. Go with the MSI only if you think it will have better customer support, drivers, and BIOS updates for down the road if you need them.
