biostar w/nvidia 6100

Anybody have this board? Have any comments about it? I've read the reviews, just curious if anybody has tried it out.

PS - I'm talking Socket 939

I would like to have an idea about performance of single channel version of the board - the socket 754 or socket 939 with a single channel of memory used. Is the graphic performance much worse, or somewhat similar?

It looks like I'll be building a cheap system for my aunt with that motherboard. She hasn't given the "ok" yet, but I imagine she will and I'll be puting it together within the next week or so. I'll update if I do.

What about the SiS 760 instead of the K8M800?

not to hijack the thread, but how do you find that one? I'm thinking of switching to the ATI R482 boards (or whatever the number was on them)

SIS 760 is also AGP dependant like the VIA board. AFAIK the Gforce 6100 is the only PCIe S754 board to date. SIS 760 and K8M800 are AGP only. The gforce 6100 would at least give you the PCIe upgrade window (X1800-XT and nVIDA PCIe 7800 series capabilities).

The board I'm looking at is the MSI RS480M-IL. It's also PCIe. I'd rather go for nvidia, but can't seem to find any of the new ones w/ the onboard 6100 yet.

Here you go with onboard 6100. but you'll notice newegg has messed up the Biostar selecton somehow. there was a Gforce S754 listed. Now there is a S939 Gforce (as well as a Tforce) but no S754 single channel tforce but the new tforce 6100 S939 board is listed as Sempron compatible LOL. Check back in a few days when newegg fixes it as the S754 board should be listed properly again.

The ATI chipset is PCIe also. I was throwing out the SiS chipset as an alternative to the VIA since some people are vehement VIA haters. I've built systems with both (none yet with ATI/Nvidia) and they make for good office/internet machines, plus still gameable with an AGP video card.

Yeah we built with Biostar in our shop for over 150 clients. Great boards for stabiliity. As far as SIS 760, or 755 (agp based) Zap...they are indeed fine. I have an ECS SIS 755 in my budget unit and it's not very tweakable but is rock solid stable and plenty fast. I would assume the SIS 760 would be much the same as it seems to get very high marks (the ECS SIS 760) at newegg. I no longer have the shop, but i still recommend Biostar or Asus over any other mobo period for those that case about stability over all else.

I have one on order, that, a nice Silverstone case and a PSU.

Should be building her next week.

I will post here with what I find.

Board came today, I might try to slap it in my other case tomorrow night if I have the time.

I absolutely love my biostar 6100 m7. although its socket 754, they basically run teh same way, even teh Tforce and M series...

Only difference is power consumption as the 939 socket use more power....

onboard video is FANTASTIC for onboard video, you wont get good 3dmarks, but for onboard, its amazing.

How are the overclocking features in the board? I see now that there is both a "Geforce" and "Tforce" models for both socket 754 and 939. You got the "Geforce" socket 754?
