I just ordered a Biostar Geforce 6100-M9 after doing a side by side comparison on newegg - the features look the same. But does anyone konw the difference?

After I ordered it I read the tforce is a better overclocker. This is important to me because I have a 3200+ venice I plan on OC'ing, and I do plan on using the integrated video(I do a lot of video encoding so I need a fast proc, just not that fast of a vid card).

Does anyone know the difference between the 2 motherboards, or have a recommendation?

Also, I'm thinking of waiting for the Asus 6150 board with dvi and vga out, anyone know when this is coming out, or how it will OC?

Thanks,
Kevin

The differences appear to be:

T-Force has better bundle and more cutting-edge OC-CON aluminum polymer capacitors. The M9 has a lesser bundle and conventional capacitors. Those appear to be the only two material differences.

Generally speaking, longevity. The new caps have a 10+ year life. Conventional caps usually live around 5 to 7 years.

TForce is reportedly the Biostar top of the line boards - intended for overclocking.

In addition to the capacitors, there is also a jumper for VDIMM of up to 3.1 V vs. the standard GF6100 M9 is under 3.0 V.

Other features of the TForce series are shown here:

For just a few $ more, the TForce 6100 is a good deal.

However you should be able to overclock the Gf6100, so I wouldn't return it unless the board is defective.

thanks for your replies guys, I'm really wish I had realized all of this before ordering. Ahh well, the 6100 M9 is still a nice board.

Don't know about the 939 versions, but the 754 versions have another difference that I can see by comparing pictures. Between the CPU and the ATX ports is IIRC the power circuitry. I think those square things with three legs on one side are the mosfets and next to each is a coil thingy. The Tforce version has three of them while the vanilla version only has two, with blank solder pads where the middle one goes.

I'm putting together some different priced rigs for a friend.
Basically I want to offer him High-End, Mid-Range and Low-End options. I figured the socket 939 MBs were the best place to go for those. I want to try and keep the choices as simple as possible.
Is the Biostar Tforce 6100 a good candidate for all three catagories?
He's not a big gamer, so the onboard video should be fine. There will be no OCing at all.

Thanks ;)
