BIOSTAR TForce4SLI motherboard won't detect new hard drive.

I've been having problems with a brand new BIOSTAR TForce4SLI motherboard. The system will boot into the bios and not detect the hard drive. I've tried several different hard drives and nothing would be recognized. The motherboard will detect the Dvd-rw drive with no problems at all. I've made sure that the IDE cables were secure and it still will not auto-detect the hard drive. The new hard drive I'm using is a Western Digital 120GB Caviar IDE hard drive.

Couple of things to try... if you have access to another hard drive, try it to see if it works. Try a different IDE cable and make sure it is an 80 wire and not 40 wire. Try a flat cable if you're trying to use a rounded cable. Try a different power plug (molex).

Make sure you are hooking up the drive to the right part of the cable:

|===|========|

M----S-------------MB
M = Master
S = Slave
MB = motherboard

Make sure the drive is jumpered properly. Last I checked, WD had some retarded way of jumpering drives that is different from any other manufacturer. You can choose Cable Select, or Master (of two), or Slave (of two), or single drive. If it's the only drive hooked up to the IDE cable, it has to be jumpered as single drive or cable select. If it is only drive and you have it jumpered as Master, then it won't work. If there is a second drive on the cable and you have it jumpered as single, then it won't work.
