I recently bought this board:

Everything works great, but I have not been able to get audio over the HDMI connection (in volume control, the green volume levels go up and down when there is sound, I'm just not hearing it).

Even stranger, if I update the Nvidia HDMI driver from the one grabbed by Windows Update to the latest from Nvidia, even though I still have video, the audio device becomes unavailable because "nothing" is connected.

Similarly, I also get no audio when trying the Realtek HDMI (in the BIOS, you can select internal codec (Nvidia), external code (Realtek) or both).

I am plugging directly into an LCD with an HDMI input (which is known to work).

I'm leaning towards my HDMI cables not being HDCP compliant (even though they work fine with other HDMI devices). Is such a thing true/possible? I have some HDMI v1.3b cables coming.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 32-bit, fresh load, with the TV Power Pack 2008 and all updates. I installed Arcsoft's Totalmedia, and that's about it.

I have unchecked the box that allows complete control of the device by an application.

I have tried stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 output.

I get aboslutely no sound, including system sounds.

(Separately, and unrelated, I have a working AMD 780G system over HDMI, so there's no doubt that it has something to do with the TF8200 output.)

Any ideas before I go back to reformat?

Thanks!

Joe

As a side note, I reformatted with XP Pro and the problem is the same. There's really not a lot of information about this that I've been able to find on the web, just a number of unanswered questions.

Again, any help would be appreciated.
