I've been having an incredible run of bad luck with bios flashes lately, which tells me I need to switch entirely to gigabyte boards with dual bioses...

This ta790gx appeared to flash just fine but on restart, it would not post. Power goes on but there are no post beeps.

I can't find any option from biostar to replace the bios chip, nor do I see any bios recovery method. Anybody have an idea?

lol same thing happened to me tonight. Looking at my mobo diagnostic lights it says my memory is having issues. I blame my Crucial Ballistix default voltage

I have never had so many bios flashes go bad. In fact, before the last 2 weeks, I've never had a bad bios flash for laptops, desktop motherboards, and even occasionally a video card.

Let me know if you find an easy fix. I can't even find a biostar phone number to get a new bios chip from! Asus overnights their stuff :(

No help to you, but I was able to flash using the onboard utility, just fine. Were you using external means?

Nope, I used the onboard utility too. It went through all the way, showed a proper flash, asked me to hit "y" to restart... and then nothing. I tried swapping in slower memory, tried clearing CMOS, tries basically everything. It's just dead. The bios website shows a method of recovery for ami bios... I'll give it a shot but I'm getting nothing. No post sounds, only spinning fans and hard drive.

The bios chip is easy to extract, it's just hard to find one. I'll try one of those bios services. It's not my main rig so I'm in no rush... but I wish biostar would do what asus does and offer a replacement option.

Besides the asus board, I also had two bad flashes on my gigabyte 790x based board when trying the f5a bios. Of course, gigabyte boards fix themselves... HINT HINT every other motherboard maker.

You can try this to do bios recovery:
Worked for me

I've use this method three times with my TA790GX A2+ and it works every time. Maybe it will help you to recover your board from badflash:
1. You need a pendrive formated to FAT16 or FAT32.
2. Copy BIOS-file to pendrive and rename it to "AMIBOOT.ROM".
3. Put pendrive to USB-port and turn on computer.
4. If your stick have a LED, it should start blinking after 15-20 seconds.
5. After next 10 seconds AMI logo will appear. BIOS recovering process can take about 30-40 seconds.
You may also try to press CTRL+HOME few times after turning on computer.
It's a good idea to connect PC-Speaker to your board - you'll find a AMI beep codes list in manual (chapter 7.3).

Also use a PS2 keyboard

I found that on the biostar website. I tried the CD rom method... did nothing. I wonder though, maybe it requires a SATA drive.

Doesn't matter at this point, i stuck the asus m4a78-e in the HTPC now. With the latest bios is does unlocking cores and is overall more functional than the biostar. I'll probably get rid of the biostar at this point after fixing the bios.

I am having the same issue as you guys but it seems like there are some discrepancies. Could you please help me solve my issue?
When I turn the power on, nothing is shown on my screen. So I do not think that by sticking my FAT32 penstick will work.
When you guys had the memory issue did LED_D1 blink or was it constantly on with a siren sound? I had both, with my first mobo the LED_D1 was constantly on and a beeping sound would happen. The second mobo, both LED_D1 and LED_D2 would blink BUT LED_D1 would blink brighter and longer. Both times BIOS/anything would never show up on my screen.
