Biostar M7VIZ unable to boot from floppy

I'm upgrading a neighbor's system and installed a Biostar M7VIZ (rev 5.1)...all seemed normal until I placed the Win98SE boot disk into the floppy drive and started it up. The boot sequence appeared fine, but when the FD was accessed the light came on for a few seconds, I could hear the disk thrashing, but then the light went out and the screen stopped at 'verifying DMI pool data...'.

I re-checked all the relevant BIOS settings, and tried 2 other (working) FD's and cables, but the problem remains. I also tried several boot floppies, with the same result. I've built more systems than I can count, and this is the first time I've seen this occur.

Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated

Maybe bad floppy, cable, etc....

Try a boot CD and work around the problem until it is up and running.

Turned out to be a bad mobo...I called Biostar and they felt is was a defective FDC chip. I RMA'd the board back to Newegg.
Appreciate the suggestions
