exchanged through newegg because it had some reseting errors. now with this new board, when i try to boot up, it either shows a blank screen, or the biostar splash screen and stays like that. both screens my monitor is getting power. i only made it to the bios once, and that was when i was pushing the del key like mad. now i can't get into the bios at all no matter what i do.

i tried running the mobo out the case, to see if it was shorting out. nope.

ran it bare, with one stick mem, one HD. same thing.

i ran into this same prob with my exchanged board but i forgot how i resolved it.

any suggestions??

i had via chipsets before now no prob, i think biostar is just no good.

What powersupply and processor are you using? I built a computer around the KM200 M7VIG Pro by Biostar. Has been running problem free for almost 6 months in an otherwise previously problematic computer.

its a sparkle 300 wattage. im using a 1800+ retail, with retail HS/fan. i tryied running it at 100mhz bus, but thats no good also. just gets stuck at the stupid biostar splash screen.

is it a known fact that biostar makes crappy via chipset boards, but good nforce boards??

first clear the cmos

what are you running besides the cpu and ram? unplug everything but the cpu and ram (that includes unhooking the floppy drive and harddrive) and make sure the keyboard is plugged in all the way

double check the jumper settings (make sure your not unintentionally overclocking it) removing all the jumpers from the jclk pinout will be the correct setting for 133mhz fsb

also what speed is the ram? often faulty ram can cause the problem your describing (and just cause ram works fine in one system doesnt mean it will work fine in another)

good ideas, but i already went through them, sorry if i didn't post it in original.

im running bare bones. 1 stick mem, 1800+ tbred, no cdrom, 1 HD, no FDD, no addon cards at all, im using the onboard video. took out the 1 HD, still same thing. freeze on splash screen.
i've checked the jumpersettings, ur right, with no jumbers its 133mhz, i tried that, then i tried it closing 3-4 which does 100mhz, still no go.
my ram is a kingston valueram512MB ddr 333, cas 2.5. when i made it bios that one time, i set it to SPD, didn't OC nothing. pretty much ran it fail safe.

about the ram?? are you sure faulty ram can cause something like this?? and if it works on another system, doesn't mean it will work fine in another?? hmmm... i gues i COULD buy another ram to try it out, but im so sick if this board i feel like punting it across my room . =) i hate messing with ram, because ram is not meant to be inserted/de-inserted a lot. at most they say like 25 insertions/desertions. im looking at my ram, and the gold contact points has wear. =(

might just be a bad board :(

but i would definatly try a different stick of ram, and try a different cpu (possibly the cpu was damaged durring installation of the heatsink?)

and yeah faulty ram can cause the problem your describing.. ohh and one more thing, double check that the ram is seated all the way (make sure its pressed well down in the slot) and make sure nothing is stuck down in the bottom of the dimm slot

i already swapped CPU from my main so thats not it.
the ram is stuck in all the way, i hear two clicks, and the notches are both perpendicular to the board.
i dunno if im gonna buy another stick , or just RMA this board,.. but thanks for all the good suggestions.
