Biostar M7MKE and 8x graphics cards

It apparently supports 4x agp cards, but i'm wondering if a radeon 9700 gold will work (or any 8x card really). Anyone have any experience with this, or just an opinion?

The reason I ask this is that buying the VPU now will allow me to join my wife in AC2 sooner than if I wait until I collect all the other parts I need for my new rig.
