Biostar K8M800 and Athlon X2 BE-2400 not working

I am trying to setup a system with a Biostar K8M800 to work with a Athlon X2 BE-2400. When I power on, the fans and hard drive will spin, but there is no display, no beep, no post. I tried an Athlon64 4200+ and it works fine on the K8M800 so I'm not sure whats going on. I tried updating the BIOS but that hasnt made any difference.

Strange problem. Couple things you might want to try. Try using different memory. Try booting with one module. Try starting the system with the 4200+ and setting the cpu voltage manually to 1.25v then save and power down and try to boot with the other cpu. Nothing is ever 100% with computers. If you can't figure it out and don't feel like you want to play Sherlock Holmes then just sell the 2400 and buy a similar cpu.

I tried different memory, although I dont think that is the problem as the other CPU worked fine. If I remember right, the BIOS voltage settings are like "default, +.05, +.1, +.15" so I dont really know if I can set it to 1.25 or if that is default. I actually thought my BE-2400 was defective so I sent it back and got another BE-2400. I'm reluctant to buy another CPU. I guess I know the 4200 will work but I was hopeing for a 45W cpu.

It looks like the 2400 isn't on the cpu support list for the Biostar K8M800.
That's not to say that it can't work just that it might be a pain getting it to work.
There are three 45w cpu's on the list though. BE-2350, LE-1640 & the LE-1300. There are also some 35w cpu's.

BE-2350 is on the list, but no BE-2400? Isn't the difference between the two just clock speed? How strange.

I have an Asrock AM2 board that works great with a Windsor 5600+ but will not work with a Brisbane 5600+, which are different wattage CPUs. I assume a bios update would work for me, but I decided not to do that as my Windsor has the 1MB X 2 cache while the Brisbane has only 512 KB X 2.

I never consider it strange with something like this. It's amazing to me that a computer will even turn on at all much less have the ability to interchange thousands of parts and function so smoothly. All this when you consider the thousands of separate processes underway.

Want to confirm that the BE-2400 does in fact work on the board. Not sure what's wrong with OP's setup so I don't know what to suggest.

No one said it doesn't work just that it's not on the cpu support list.
