Well, I put it together and everything and tried to turn it on. It pretty much surges power through the whole thing but then turns off like a millisecond later. I'm pretty sure it's something between the Biostar and the Opty 146, most likely something with the BIOS being unable to recognize the cpu. Any way I can solve this problem?

thanks

You never said what power supply you're using. That's the type of thing that happens when your power supply can't handle the system.

im using an antec smartpower 350watt...i was using much more taxing components in my old rig though, so i highly doubt it's the problem

sorry but it really does sound power related. Have you tried building it outside the case on a box?
