Which would you guys recommend me to get? I'm thinking of picking up either one tomorrow and both have gotten great reviews.

Bioshock is 30$ and Mass Effect is 50$

Well Bioshock is more of an FPS and Mass Effect is an RPG. They are both great games but I have been head over heels for Mass Effect recently :thumbsup:

I would choose Mass Effect, i'm loving this game except for the horrible inventory system. I bought the Bioshock Collector's Edition on release day...finished it two days later and while the story is pretty good...it's a watered down System Shock 2 in my opinion. Both are good games however once you get over their flaws.

Mass Effect will give you more replay value. Depending how much you liked the story and the conversation system you might like to play through it again to see alternate outcomes to some decisions.
Bioshock, while I know I will play it again probably in my next dry run of games didn't have the feeling of wanting to play again. But Bioshock is a hell of an experience though.

IMO, I'd probably get Bioshock now since it is cheaper and ME will more then likely in the coming months have a price drop. PC games tend to drop in price rather quickly.

That's really tough. I own and loved both. I'd just grab Bioshock for now and wait for ME to come down in price (as well as the DLC to come out of PC).

Hmmmm. Think I'll stick to System Shock 2 and Star Control 2. Both are IMO fair superior to their respective counterparts, and the latter is free.

Odd, I didn't see either as a choice. Hmm. And I coulda sworn there was no third person shooter/RPG party quality to Star Control 2 (Or UQM), but hey, it's basically the same as ME. I surely won't argue that Bioshock is better than SS2.. that'd be a tough sell as SS2 was fan-freakin-tastic and BS is essentially it's spiritual successor (reincarnation?). Still tho, BS is damned good in its own right. ME and SC2.. just not nearly similar enough to even make this comparison. :p

Easy choice, I hated Bioshock well overated,watching paint dry is more enjoyable,anyway Mass Effect I thought was a bit short but still a very good game.

Mass Effect will be fun for a weekend. Possibly good for a second play through, but little else after that. The PC version needs an inventory overhaul patch, and a whole lot of additional content.

Mass effect is a bit disappointing if you played other BioWare games and was expecting something of the same calibur.

Bioshock is disappointing if you've played System Shock 2 at all.

Well, ME is no KOTOR, but I do find it has good replay value. I am playing through for the 2nd time and it is just as fun as the 1st time, if not more so because I have chosen a different class. After this play through I plan on playing the Insane difficulty with my current character. Should be fun.

Have you tried The Witcher? Every decision in the game is between morally gray view points. No matter what you decide, you will never be the White Knight, but you will never be the Blackguard either.

There is hope for these 2 franchises, though.

I've observed that sequels on PC tend to be better especially if they use the same engine. The Devs can actually concentrate on shaping the story instead of working with the engine
GRAW1->2,
R6Vegas1->2
Oblivion->Shivering Isles
etc

So:
Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2 should be great *crosses fingers*

Well I'm just looking for a good game to play. I've never played any BioWare games (don't lynch me please) and I thought I'd give one a try.

I know, I just felt like projecting my opinion (aka thread-crapping) for a couple of minutes. :p

Yeah, well I was just considering space-based rpgs with lots of dialog/choices/replay value when I mentioned SC2.

I'll admit that neither Bioshock nor Mass Effect is bad, but IMO they're just not worth it when there are better things out there.

I own both and I was more immersed into Bioshock than I was Mass Effect. However Mass Effect has more replay value in it.

I heard "The Witcher" thrown around in here and I absolutely endorse that notion. You might want to pick up the "Enhanced Version" when it is later released this year.

I played bioshock but not mass effect.

I really enjoyed bioshock, but it didnt have that 'stay up all night to finish this level' quality. Dont get me wrong, it is an awesome game. While its spiritual predecessor, System shock 2 is in my top 3 PC games of all time, i thought bioshock was very well done, but maybe not quite up to the level of the classic. Bioshock lacks the RPG system in SS2, but the complex storyline in bioshock more than makes up for that IMHO. It may be sacrilege to say so, but i had more 'piss your pants' moments in bioshock than in SS2. (Which is saying something cause there were quite a few in the classic).

I have mass effect on the way. So to the OP i would say play both. Get the cheaper game first, then trade it for the second.

Well in Mass Effect you can supposedly have some hot coffee action with an Alien...... so....

I like them both. I'm replaying Bioshock at a higher diff. level now, and replaying ME with a different class (going Soldier this time, gonna try and max my Renegade points, too).

I say play them both. Wait for ME to come down in price if you want.
