Actually, it is a fact. If you choose to ignore it, then that's your decision

What makes it a fact and not your opinion? Is it the nearly almost 1/3 of logged Vista crashes? Maybe the famous 196.75 drivers? How about the driver that allowed you to overvolt your shiney new GTX590 to the point it is damaged? (Though to be honest, I think that is equally the driver's fault and the poor design of the card, it should have had better voltage/thermal protection than just at the driver level, in my opinion).

Or maybe its just that your experiences with Nvidia drivers have been better than with AMD drivers and it is your opinion that Nvidia is better when it comes to drivers?

My opinion is - it is ultimately the user's experience/knowledge that determines which is "better."

Love my GF, but she is a nitwit when it comes to PCs and frankly I'm always trouble shooting her GTX 680 for random issues with random games versus me and my HD 7970.

And no, I'm not saying that nVidia has more issues, but because she doesn't know simple stuff like disabling multi-threading for OpenGL Minecraft, she spends hours reading Minecraft forums and goes into the usual "why is this computer a PoS" only for me to solve her issue in 2 minutes.

If she posted vocally on a forum, you'd think Intel/nVidia made the worst products ever!

EDIT: Not to rag on the guy, but I just read this thread:

Do you realize how long it took AMD to be competitive FPS wise since the release of 7000 series? Look at how fast NV releases driver support for new games compared to AMD. Look at all the recent frame/crossfire issues AMD has had lately.

If you truly believe AMD is just as good driver wise as NVIDIA then you can believe what you want to believe, i guess. Doesnt change the fact of what actually happens on a large scale and not for 1 individual user.

So...this game seems to have spots that give 100fps then you turn around and you get 20fps. Anyone know why or have a fix? The benchmark showed average near 100 and a couple spots where it reported 24fps even though precision OSD didn't show a drop that low. You could see a hitch though at one point but it was quick.

Also does anyone notice the difference between using the diffusion depth of field option and without (alternate post processing vs normal)? I have a hard time picking it out. What exactly is the difference so I can try to spot it somewhere, like what is it doing to the image?

I looked through the posts here and didn't see much reference to this stuff. Basically I want to eliminate the hitching and fps drop if possible without turning down the IQ all that much. If that's possible anyway. Maybe I should play at 1920x1080 instead of 2560x1440 but with an average of 100fps I don't see why it would suddenly drop to 20fps and it is quite jarring when it does. It's like it goes from 90 right to 20 immediately at some spots. Never seen this before, not really even in crysis 3 that much of a drop.

here is the techreport benchmark of mid range cards. HD7870 is the top dog among these cards in Bioshock infinite. the GTX 650 Ti boost beats the HD 7850 at stock. but at the same clocks the HD 7850 will beat the GTX 650 Ti boost anyday.

Titan is extremely disappointing in this game. I game at 2560x1600 and it often dipped to around 40-45FPS and felt extremely jittery. Moved to dual 7950s for less than half the price and it's completely smooth, stays locked at 60 99% of the time.

I'm not surprised. Titan isn't much faster (30%?) than the former top card 7970 GHz and it's very overpriced. The numbers showed that from the start.

That's 1920 x 1200, at ultra with all the goodies turned on (option 2 I think it is, not just Ultra, its got some added thing to ultra DFOF or something? whatever LOL)

I have a i975X processor (goodie but oldie), AMD Asus 7970 TOP card, 12GB 1333mhz ram and an SSD (running at Sata II). Nothing is over clocked or had anything done to it.. not sure how to yet lol. I can see in BIOS I have all these settings and stuff but since im not in the mood to replace an parts after buying the card a couple of weeks ago I might leave it for now considering its playing nearly everything at max (not bad for 2009 computer with a card and hard drive upgrade).. although - to be honest - just to chime in a little with what the "old man" was going on about.. Im really not seeing the graphics jump I used to either.. from the first games.. to about Doom 3 - it was an impressive jump. Then from there you had crysis.. After that I don't really think Ive seen anything that warrants a big change that couldn't have been done with some clever programming/developer work, and im running most games at absolute max.

EG With my last card (GTX295), which was again, great when it came out but a 2009 - if not older - video card, and so what of the jump to what I have now (ATI 7970)?

Some games look a bit cooler with the DX11, and frames are higher.. I would really love to have known what all the GTX4XX, GTX5XX and ATI's over the last few years etc truly offered.. It cant have been that much~! if this is where we are now.. but again this is another "old man" talking.

Unless the next cards offer "real" graphics.. don't know if I will upgrade again. I want to be blown away next time - not just "wow - look at Lara Crofts hair (who gives a shit show me her perfect polygons) -
But am really enjoying it for now, and the new card looks beasty.
