I just finished the game... an incredible ride.

I know that there'll be some bashing here, but I don't get all the anti-hype on this game. I was totally blown away.

If Kubrick would have designed a game, this would be it. Well defined characters, top notch script, and incredible atmosphere.

Dang, I bought this on some steam sale and it's been sitting there ever since. After your quick review I may just have to give it a play through soon.

Any reason I should finish the first one before playing this? I tried twice and each time, though they were 6 months apart and on different pc's, the game crashed hard in the same location so I gave up.

I think you could play the second one first, and treat the first one as a 'prequel'... but I think you'd get the best experience playing the first one before the second.

Weird that your game crashed... BS1 ran flawlessly on any of my pc's....

Is the game patched?

It was patched, at least the second time, can't remember on the first. It's been a while now, maybe I'll cheat and run through it real quick just to see the story and the ending.

Well don't go too quickly, mate! :p

Fort Frolic, in particular, is one of the best designed levels I have ever seen. That game is definitely to be savored.

I finished BS2 last week - also picked it up during the Steam sale. I really enjoyed the experience, especially contrasted to the less-than-stellar feedback I'd seen from players.

Yeah, I really don't understand the overwhelming negative feedback I've read about it, either.

I must have completely missed that Steam sale because I have been wanting to buy this when it goes on sale.

Why the fuck wouldn't they just use a mouse + Keyboard for those trailers. Looks so shitty when played with a pad.

it is fun but i did not like the jump they made from BS1 i was hoping there would be a continuation story wise with the survivors of the first but instead they go 10 years later and even worse the enviornment is exactly the same as the first. 10 years pass and this place is still a mess? Assuming the positive endind in the 1st is cannon those survivors should of rebuilt the city for a "step up" enviornment for the 2nd, would of been a better approach for the devs to take.

I actually just started this tonight. I had bought the game months ago on a steam deal. Liking it so far. It took about 20 minutes for GFWL to install/update/download profile/update/blah blah.

Well ,I thought B2 had much better game play with a much lesser story...The new trailer is insane though...

I love the look of Bioshock Infinite. the new city looks like a phenomenal area and are people like becoming part machine? Very cool.

Bought this game a long while back on a steam sale but only started playing a few weeks ago. Beat it already...etc. Great gunplay, much funner than the original in that respect. Hideously dull levels (the amusement park was good) and a terrible antagonist (Socialists are f'ing boring, Capitalists are interesting. Lamb < Ryan and it's not close).

I liked a LOT about Bioshock 2 but really couldn't get past the 'boring before it even gets started' storyline.

I bought a copy on the last steam sale and didn't start to play it until recently. I'm not liking it as much as I liked the 1st one so far.

Also the damn thing keeps locking up on me.

I think this trailer was supposed to look more cinematic I guess? I imagine the movements would have been much more herky jerky if the person controlling the PC was using a mouse/keyboard. I thought it looked fine for what it was trying to showcase.

Yeah, I really don't understand the overwhelming negative feedback I've read about it, either.

On a personal note, I hated how linear the 2nd one was compared to the 1st. The 1st wasn't "open" by any means either, but the 2nd one always shut off the last area you were in permanently... so you could never go back or anything which was pretty annoying.

It was still a decent game, it just didn't improve much on the first one and did a few particular things to make it worse (IMO). I don't regret playing it but I AM happy I just borrowed it and didn't buy it.

Not to push this thread beyond it's death,

But I've been replaying BS1.

As much as I enjoyed BS2, there is nothing like the original.

One thing that BS1 has that the sequel doesn't - there are some genuinely frightening moments in the original, that aren't in the sequel.

*SPOILER*

The dentist who appears right behind me in his steamy office gets me every time.

I think I'm nearing the end of BS2 and I have to say I don't think it was as good as the 1st one either. Although I do like the ability to set traps. However, sometimes it seems like setting traps was a waste of time, like when defending a little sister gathering ADAM. Sometimes the enemies just seemed to spawn randomly in the area, not actually come through doors and such, which was really annoying.
