I hardly ever get pysched about a release date but this one for sure. With the first one being near perfect the only problem is how can it ever live up to that? Will be interesting to see what they do with the story.

For me, the notion that we get to revisit Rapture 10 years after the events that took place in B1 does sound interesting. I'm actually really interested in Sofia Lamb? I want to know more about her. Her desire to rebirth Rapture under her ideals and values. I want to know how those differ from Andrew Ryans.

The only thing I have any real reservations about is the Big Sisters. They just dont interest me all the much--at least not yet.

Also, I really loved the "Sea of Dreams" subtitle--wish they would have kept that.

Reading some about it you can use little sisters to collect adam, of course you gotta protect them. Or you can just send them off into their hidey holes.

Almost want to replay the first one just to get in the environment/story.

I'd actually like to see a Prequel taking place during the height of Rapture, when it was still a functional city, and it could revolve around the outbreak of the "civil war" between the rival factions, etc..

but yes, I'm still really looking forward to Bioshock 2.

What you've described is the setting for the multiplayer mode in Bioshock 2 (although it may not be as story-oriented as you might want).

Hopefully the story of this one will be a little more creative and won't give me feelings of deja vu..:p

Besides that, at least the little girls aren't as hideous anymore.

Someone is getting it for the 360 in the house, so I'll probably just play it after he'd done. I bought the first one for PC, played it once, never went back.

Right, but as you said, there's probably not going to be much story there. I'd actually like to explore that universe in a single player fashion. Ah well, looking forward to whatever they offer.

I bought the first one, on sale off Steam, for $13. I played it through but didn't really enjoy it that much. Never been a fan of the survival horror genre. I'll probably give it a rent but I doubt I'll buy it.

Did you mean big dadddy or little sister or is big sister a new Bio2 thing?

it's either a rental or i'll pick it up after the price drops. i really liked the first one, but i found that it didn't have much replay value.

At least this one has multiplayer. Not sure if it'll be any good but it could add replayability.

I beat it then always wanted to take the other path (save versus harvest little sisters). I chose one path when i played but now I forget which path I took. All I remember is that the path I took was pretty damn cool. I think i saved the little sisters and they kept giving me rewards throguhout the game.

So I gues that means i need to replay Bio1 and do some harvesting! Doing so is supposed to lead to a different ending.

Sorry for spelling errors gallore.

Picked this up last night, can't believe there's not more of a thread about this.

So far it's pretty good.. I have some comments that are kinda spoileresque so I'll hold off until more people get a chance to play.

I played for a couple of hours last night.

Bioshock might have been my all-time favorite game, and it was certainly my favorite since the original Half-Life. I loved the writing and the way the story revealed itself, and the art direction and the whole Rapture aesthetic were amazing. On top of everything else I just found it fun as a shooter.

So far Bioshock 2 is good, but also a bit of a disappointment. The universe is the same, and still looks great, but in many ways the gameplay and levels don't feel as carefully planned to excite and startle. Being a Big Daddy is, in many ways, less interesting than being a guy who at least appears to be a total outsider to Rapture. Most significantly, the story, at least so far, seems much less coherent and inventive - it's more of a standard shooter where you are assigned tasks for what seem to be largely random reasons, and the core plotline just seems silly. It doesn't help that the voice acting is much worse than in the original.

All of that being said, I still love being in Rapture, and will definitely play this one to the end (for whatever reason shooters tend to be the only games I actually finish).

It's largely the same which is kind of disappointing but at the same time they fixed all the stupid shit about the first one. The hacking is much better and awesome that you can shoot darts to hack shit. The vending machines don't have those horrible announcements every time you walk by them. No more useless camera aspect that just got tedious and annoying.

It's easier than Bioshock too (I'm playing on hardest).. the VitaChambers are much more prevalent and in areas that get you right back into the action though the enemies seem harder to kill so it kind of equals out. It's rather disappointing that as a Big Daddy your attacks aren't nearly as powerful as you would think. The Big Sister is largely just tedious because she's fucking hard to kill and way faster than you.

It really does seem just like extra levels with the same premise as the first one. I *really* hope they're not going to try and use the same plot twist as the first one though they show Tenenbaum in person talking to you at the same time as Lamb so they kind of killed that possibility already. They also showed Sinclair. It really wouldn't surprise me if someone you trust ends up trying to fuck you, just like the first one, and I'd be royally disappointed if that's the case.

I guess I expected more out of the team that made the first one.. largely it seems like the same exact shit but with different dynamics. I like the weapons thus far and I'm only at Paupers Drop so I hope it gets more dynamic. What pisses me off the most is that there's really no consequence to dying in this game. You can keep 5 health packs forever since when you die you get half your health back and it's easier to just keep dying and respawning than it is to find and buy health packs. That was a huge complaint about the first one but it was leveled out by the fact that you had to walk for like 2-3 minutes each time you died to get back to where you were... now the VitaChambers drop you right back into the action so there really is no consequence of just dying and not wasting health packs. Huge oversight imo.

Ugh.. just got another fucking camera. This is pissing me off that it's essentially the exact same game. At least this one is a video camera and doesn't require a perfect snap.
