I believe a "w00t" is appropriate in this situation.

Editation: They're doing it with another team.

Or rather, to be more accurate, I should say that they "started the other team on it with proof of concept work before bioshock even launched in case BioShock was a big seller because that's how it works in the games business now", kind of like the Infinity Ward/Treyarch debacle.

If you're wondering why Take-Two would announce Bioshock 2 so early, it is likely due to EA's recent attempts at acquiring the company. Confirmation of a BioShock sequel will only increase Take-Two's value.

hah figures. EA at it again!

Hey, that is what *i* said here FIRST

he is way too smart to "kill himself" .. just to stage it :p
- he used *me* to do his dirty work to get to Atlas ...
-and i will take care of Biggest Daddy next

so, would you kindly give credit where credit is due?

Do you guys think they might make BioShock 2 as a prequel instead? Seems like you could easily make a game out of the actual downfall of the city.

I was arguing the exact same thing on the Ars forum.

That sounds good to me, it would be cool to see the meltdown that lead to what we saw in the original Bioshock.

I thought you panned this game, :p

This of course makes me very happy and I would love to see a prequel type game. Especially if we could participate in some of the events in the audio recordings.

Which reminds me, I lent my copy to a friend about 3 months ago, I want it back.

sigh. i diligently tried twice to get through the first one and just couldn't. the graphics were ok, the gameplay was ok (but nothing out of the norm), and despite having read and enjoyed several ayn rand books, the story didn't capture me at all. i got 5-6 hours into it each time before becoming really bored and would then have no desire whatsoever to keep playing. this contrasted very poorly with games like Portal and CoD4, which I could barely put down. from the rave reviews everywhere, i would guess that it either gets better afterwards or it really doesn't take much to impress ya'll... of course, a buddy of mine - who LOVED system shock 2 and, in general, finishes every game he plays - gave up ~8-10 hours in, saying it really didn't get any better, so i'm skeptical. what was it that you guys liked so much?

:Q I'll do my best! I have a four-day weekend starting next Thursday (not tomorrow) so maybe I can play through 80 or 90 then. :p

same here! love the atmosphere. graphics arent as good as some other games but gameplay is downright amazing!

but the best part is the voice acting, IMO

I hope they don't go the predictable route, and re-tell the same story from a different character perspective.

I would love if they did a prequel...similar to how System Shock 2 plays out, you enter the game just as things are going to hell in a hand basket.

Maybe play the game from the perspective of a Rapture citizen as chaos grips the city.

I swear I've actually turned around to see if someone was standing behind me talking. They did a great job on the atmosphere and when I hear those random, crazy splicer vioces echoing around, it kind of freaks me out. Hopefully it can maintain this momentum for the rest of the game.

I think it has been pretty much confirmed that this will be a prequel. I can't find a link to confirm it though, sigh, but I'm pretty darn sure of it. The story might be about the downfall of Rapture.

Also, kevin levine will be working on BioShock 2, even though he isn't directly working in the 2k marin studio. Do have a link for that: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=34018

After I played Bioshock a few times I reinstalled System Shock 2 and was impressed with how well it held up. They will most likely stick with the Rapture theme, but I would like to see a game based on a space environment with the Bioshock "feel".

It would be interesting to do a prequel staged when the city was still "normal". While the architecture of the city was phenomenal, it didn't have a whole lot of "life" to it, mainly because everyone was dead, or a splicer. Maybe have it chronicle Atlas' rise in the underground.
