This is the wrong way to be playing video games.

If you don't like the game, then stop playing it. It's a game, not a chore. You make it sound like someone's holding a gun to your head.

and i watch the Youtube and other people have all these upgrades i dont have. I still have electro bolt 1 and im at the end of the game. i dont have any wrench jockeys either, and zero proximity mines to kill this guy.

i hate games that lock you in like this. they dont tell you its going to happen, that you will need to scrounge ammo for this last part. god its like playing a game from 1997 again.

Rushes through the game, complains at lack of upgrades/items found.

Internet logic.

I bought the game when it first came out (on DVD) and really liked the game. However , I could not finish it due to a major glitch in the game.
Scene 1: Got about 1/4 of the way thru and could not progress. No BOD, no freeze, just could not progress to the next level:twisted:
Scene 2: Reinstalled the game got about 1/2 way thru, same thing...could not progress to the next level. I could walk around, replay everything nothing worked. After spending hours searching for a solution, writing the Devs (no reply) I gave up. It appears some others had this same problem, but no solution worked for me.
Yes, the game was patched, etc. Reluctantly, I just gave up and moved on. Never bought another game in the series.
Maybe this would not have happened with a Steam game, but at the time I was not familiar with Steam.
Thus ends the sad tale of Bioshock.

I was only playing it because I wanted to play it before I play Bioshock Infinite, hence the rushing around. I had played some of the game years before and knew the gameplay was not 100% my cup of tea. But there are "classic" games that I feel I must finish, Bioshock being one of them.

It's a really smart game, really well done, but some parts about it are seriously frustrating. I cant tell you how many times I accidently took pictures of enemies with my camera when I was trying to cycle through weapons (I was using the gamepad)

I also didnt really care for the supernatural and genetic stuff. I thought the story could have been better more as a straight up horror/mystery. All the gene stuff and plasmids and this and that, was a bit much for me. I guess I like more of a straight up shooter.

If you really can't stand the game, don't finish it. If you just want the basic plot, go to Youtube and watch a gameplay run through. Otherwise, just play the game and take it for what it is.

Did you even read the thread? I beat the game. It's not that I couldn't stand it, I just found certain elements really frustrating. Some of the fetch quests got tedious (building the bomb, and then building the big daddy suit), and the following the little sister part must have been bugged because she kept turning around, and then would walk 10 feet and then stop and turn around again, and then walk 10 feet, all while moving at a snails pace. It seriously took me an hour to get through that one part because I had to keep waiting for the little sister. And that she kept yelling at me to "hurry up" just made it that much more ridiculous.

Anyways, in general I think it's a good game with some smart design, and you get some cool dynamics going when you are able to use the environment to your advantage. That being said, isn't the story telling awfully heavy handed? Like when Atlas/Fontaine reveals that he has been lying, he literally goes "Time to end this masquerade, I'm not really Atlas I'm Fontaine" its not like some clever thing that you uncover, he just tells you "now im Fontaine, and youve been working for me all along"...

And that final boss battle was kind of cheesy as well.

Don't play Dark Souls. You will kill yourself if you get this mad over Bioshock.

That's the downside of playing the warez version.

The little sister escort was a bit annoying but I didn't have any issue with the rest of the game. I played through it once on Hard and found it to be pretty easy really; though I'm fairly certain I beat it in like... 20 hours? I'm not sure how you're up to 30. As long as you've got an upgraded version of the freeze or shock ability you're fine.

Building the bomb was a little tedious but the big daddy suit took hardly any time at all iirc. Certain levels were also a bit bigger than they really needed to be imo, but ultimately I thought it was a good game.

If you're playing a game to merely rush through it for completion sake, why bother? I don't play a game unless I take the time to take everything in and enjoy it fully. You're shortchanging your own experience if you play it with a completionist and rushed mindset from the get-go, that's almost a sure way to not enjoy the experience.

Besides which, you can easily play Bioshock infinite without any of the prior games, and just read a wikipedia to figure out the plot/storyline of the previous games. I played Bioshock at release in 2007 (I think it was 2007 anyway) and I loved it. It wasn't as good as system shock 1/2, but a darn fine game nonetheless.

I came to that realization with Bioshock Infinite.
Everyone hyped the game so much that I wanted to like it too.

I hate that game. Not fun... at... all.

I enjoyed the game, just not the last act I guess.

Anyways, some games I complete even if I'm not having tons of fun, if they are classic games. I consider Bioshock a classic game, a "must play" if you will. Hence fighting through the frustration in order to finish it.

Same thing with GTA4 a lotta people gave up on that game out of frustration. Not me, I beat that game because I like to finish stuff.
