Bioshock 1 PC - Object/phyics animations capped at low fps?

I'm playing Bioshock 1 right now and while I am running the game with Vsync 60 fps the objects and anything using ragdoll physics appear to be choppy framerate, it looks like 15-20 fps or something like that. Anyways, I tried disabling Vsync and then my PC runs the game at like 250 fps but still the object physics seem capped at really low fps. It just looks a bit odd. Other than that the game runs great on my Windows 7 machine.

Yeah there is definitely something weird with the animations in bioshock, I always felt that enemies moved pretty choppily, even before they got ragdolled. luckily it's not something I ever noticed in the other bioshock games, but it's still something annoying in an otherwise amazing game.

Didn't really notice it at all. I just played through and beat the game. It was great.

This is completely normal. In Bioshock 1, the physics and animation for some stuff is designed to run at a low framerate.

I remember someone writing an in-depth comment about why they designed it that way. I think it's called "time-sliced animation" or something to that extent. I wish I could find the thread but I can't at the moment.

I have the same "problem" but I don't really find it a bother at all. Seems to be by design.
