BIOS'

I found out that my BIOS' settings is locked by the manufacturer and was wondering if there is any way around this, so that I can tweak my CPU and FBUS to squeeze a bit more life from my PC before I upgrade.

No. I would read up on building your own, and prepare for changing out the motherboard. You can get some newegg open box boards for as little as $38 shipped (no backplate or accessories included), or new for $55-65 in micro atx format. I use a g31 chipset in my compaq board made by msi. It has no bios adjustements, but the guy I bought my e4300 from used copper tape to mod the cpu for a 33% overclock. You'll need a 2xxx or 4xxx Intel cpu and core2 duo motherboard, such as the g31, g33, g43, or g45 chipset board. My asrock g43 had connectors for all my compaq devices; even the power switch cluster of pins worked. All the pins were on the left side of the board with the ports facing towards the back in the install position with the case sitting flat on it's side. The asrock g43 full hd comes with overclocking jumpers on the board and adjustments in the bios, but won't post with the copper tape, probably due to the voltage phasing of the board.

Well, I already have plans for upgrading my motherboard very soon and already have a few picked out (but I do appreciate the suggestions, I will check them out), and even slightly further down the road, building my own. However, I was hoping to dig into my BIOS for this one, to help me play Warhammer til then (it's very choppy right now) and more importantly, wanted to get some experience tweaking BIOS on a board that I don't have to worry about damaging.

An hP board in an HP computer will lock most of the bios options. Probably can't be changed. Most oem's are like that.
