BIOS / Windows 98 aren't showing the name of a device correctly. Should I assume that there is something wrong with this device?

I recently received a Philips cdd4801 CDRW.

The BIOS and Device Manager just see it as:
ATAPI CD ROM R/RW 8x/4x/32x

The CDRW is set up as Secondary Master.

The Firmware Revision of this drive is 1.5
I haven't upgraded the firmware because Philips.com doesn't even list this model!

Please let me know what you guys think.
Apparently this problem has already caused problems because CDRWIN doesn't see this CDRW as a cd recorder. CDRW is supposed to support this model according to goldenhawk.com.

I just upgraded to CDRWIn 3.8 C and it is seeing my CDRW !!!

I still don't get over the fact that the BIOS isn't showing this CDRW as 'Philips cdd4801'; but I think I will get over it as long as it works 😉
