i was actually willing to shell out for a 300 gb harddrive, but before i decided to buy, i did some research. it came out to be that i needed to upgrade my bios in order to be able to use such a large storage device. well i googled my BIOS and got some responses. found this service and when the guy was ready to send me the update he said it was going to cost............69.95!
I personally thought the whole thing was going to be free, since i am already paying for a hdd and i paid for my motherboard.....well the point is that those fellers will use every opportunity to get some nice $$$ out of you.
perhaps someone can help and send me a little link to upgrade the Phoenix-award BIOS from 2003
B.

Practically every post-1996 mainboard has a FlashROM chip for the BIOS, and can be updated purely by software.
Visit your board maker's web site, download everything that's needed for the update procedure, read the instructions - and then do it.

You're welcome. Do come back here if you are the least bit unsure about what to do - doing it wrong might end you up actually paying those $70 for a correctly programmed new chip ;)

What board is this for ?

You can flash the bios yourself, but it's not 100% error proof.

you shouldn't have to pay more than $30 (range $30 -> $15) for a new bios chip if the board is NOT OEM.

Your power supply may not be enough for your system. Instead, get at least a 430W ones, such as the Antec TruepowerII 430W.

If Promethply knew any German, he'd know that "... is our only home" translates to "... ist unser einziges Heim" ;)

220W is way too weak, the GF6800 alone eats half that.
