Just for info, I flashed the bios from 1003 to 1004 with the following results:
Bios 1003
OC possible to 146 FSB stable
Windows will not load above 148
3DMark 2001 will not complete above 146
CPU Temps idle/load 49/54
3DMark 2001 score 4750 (at 145)
Bios 1004
OC possible to 145 FSB stable
Windows will not load above 148
3DMark 2001 will not complete above 145
CPU Temps 47/51!
3DMark 2001 score 4790 (at 145)
Other info applies to before and after:
VIO 3.45
VIO1 2.8
Vcore 1.75 (default jumper position)
PCI cards: SBLive Value and 3COM voice modem
VisionTek GEF2 Ultra oc'd to 280/505
In short, for my rig, 1004 did not help OC (but it may simply be that my CPU isn't the lucky draw), BUT the benefit in lower CPU temps seems real.
I noticed one intesting thing. Bios 1004 has an additional bios setting under Chip Configuration for Write Delay (I think) with 3T, 2T, or 1T as possible settings. I set it to 2T from the default 3T, and it seemed to help the 3DMark score, but difference too small to be sure. Crucial memory set to 222 in bios.
Like most of you, I held my breath during the flash...
