I have a ABIT NF7-S version 2 with stock BIOS version. I do not have a floppy drive because shipping and handling costs more than the drive is worth. Flashing BIOS off of cd is not an option it seems. For the people that have an NF7-S how much do you think the BIOS revisions have impacted your OCing? This is with DLT3C 1800+ and Muskin PC3500 Level II (2x512) and Antec TrueBlue 480

bioses really help the performance of your board....

there are some beta bioses floating around especially at xtreme that'll help you get good performance...

another option for flashing is to use winflash.

i have a dfi infinity and have been using winflash to flash bioses left and right and have had no issues (except for one bad flash and that was due to the bios file, not winflash).

Anybody have a link to this "flashing BIOS from windows" idea for NFS-7 ver 2.0? Ive evaded flashing BIOS forever so Im pretty new to it. All i know is that you can seriously fubar your system if the floppy drive fails. or if your floppy disk is bad.

I seen it discussed several times over in the NF7 forum at nForcersHQ. Thier link is down now, or I'd of found it for you. Anyway here is the link to the site, try it and search for BIOS flash from cd etc.

Link To ABIT section at nForcersHQ

Alternatively you can use the following link to Abit's web site. I have used this program (just this morning in fact) on my NF7-S v2.0 and it worked like a charm.

There is also an issue out there with the NF7-S not doing very well past 213FSB. It look around, there are articles on it in this forum.

Man, am I having a lot of problems with this BIOS stuff. I successfully flashed to BIOS 23 for the NFS-7 and things are going to hell. My ocing is worse - I used to be able to nail 200x11 @ 1.65V, now I require at least 1.7V. Also, I cannot use any other multiplier than 11.5 or 11 or else i get the "CPU is unworkable..." error and then when reaffirm my BIOS settings, it gives me a black screen and i have to remove my CMOS battery in order for me to get to the same error screen (from which i change back to 200x11 and everything works). Should I revert back to BIOS 19? I thought i would be gaining stability, not losing it...

Thanks to anybody that can help.

It sounds like you need to spend $10 plus shipping for a floppy drive.:D

abit has a program that updates your bios from windows
atleast i used it on my ic7 max3
it didn't have any problems with me
and you should be able to burn the bios to a cd if you really wanted to and find what you needed on D: or whatever

good luck

I used ABITs Flashmenu and it flashed with the wrong BIOS. I couldnt believe it! It flashed with version 1.2 BIOS. So., Luckily, i guess... it isnt all too different from version 2.0 BIOs except it sucks at 200mhz fsb, so i quickly flashed into BIOS 23 for version 2.0. I have the old BIOS backed up, although i know its BIOS 19 so i could easily go back to abit and dl it.

So far, I use UT2k4 as a quick stability tester because i dont have the time for Prime95. UT2k4 has always had sound glitches above 200mhz, with exception to 220mhz. I cant go anyhigher than 220mhz as my PC3500 level2 from Mushkin is not OCable. In fact, 220mhz is not stable - just doesnt have sound glitches. If i upped Vmemory, it "might" stabilize. However, Otherwise, UT2k4 crashes within 30 minutes of playing.

So... Im gonna flash back to 19 and see what happens...
Other than that, any other ideas? I guess BIOS 19 is somewhat ok, only real update is the SATA BIOS
