Is this possible?

I know you can make USB drives bootable, but i didn't know if you could use them instead of a floppy fro a bios update?

What brand is your motherboard? They probably put a Windows based flash utility on the driver CD or have one on their website.

If you can set your BIOS to boot from your USB drive, you may be able to d/l the BIOS and copy it to the external drive. Then, reboot from the USB drive to do the flash.

Another possiblity may be to burn it to a bootable CD.

Check your manufacturer's website for info.

If your system didn't come with a FD, then an alternate BIOS flashing procedure must be available. Check the system and/or mobo mfr's web sites (in the FAQ section). For not keeping a $10. FD and cable on hand, hours of time is wasted... ;)
