Bios update - now can't change memory settings

I have a Bad Axe 2 mobo, with some Crucial ram. The ram specs say it is 4-4-4-12. After I updaged my bios last week, I noticed it showed the memory settings at 5-5-5-18 (and the memory voltage back down to the system default rather than the higher voltage I had set them at - per the memory specs). So I went in yesterday and manually reset the voltage and the timings them back to 4-4-4-12, where they have worked for the past 2 years. When I tried to reboot yesterday, the computer wouldn't reboot, wouldn't beep, wouldn't do anyting. I had to get in and move the jumer pin, take out the battery, put the battery back in, and then boot.

It boots up fine now, but the memory settings are back to the 5-5-5-18 - and the memory voltage is back down to the system spec.

Any ideas why I apparently can no longer change my memory settings?

It's possible you have a stick going bad -- I would try using a single stick and booting up with spec timings and voltage. Then try the other. Also, if you're comfortable reflashing the BIOS to your previous version, you might try to see if your RAM likes it better. If it does, contact the mobo manufacturer and see if they have any recommendations.
