BIOS update issues with Biostar mobo, computer keeps restarting

Hi guys,

I built a new system yesterday using the Biostar TZ68a+ motherboard, everything was working great until I tried to update the BIOS. I downloaded the file from their site and put it on a flash drive, and tried to update it using their BIO-FLASHER utility. (just held F12 on restart, selected file using utility and updated)

This image off of their website shows the utility, here you can see all green blocks indicating a successful write:

However, when I tried to re-write the majority of the blocks were red indicating write fail, which didn't seem correct. After the install was complete I tried to restart, it powered on for about 5 seconds with no display, half the fans weren't running and then it just shut off. It rebooted itself after a few seconds and did the same thing, it just keeps repeating this loop.

I've tried resetting the CMOS using the jumpers, which did nothing. I took the battery out for 10 min which also did nothing. I can't find any method for re-installing the original BIOS files using a flash drive or CD for this motherboard, and it doesn't seem to be posting anyway.

What else can I try to revert to the original BIOS? I really don't want to have to RMA this motherboard but right now I'm out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I think Biostar uses socketed BIOS chips. If you can locate it, contact Biostar customer service, and get them to mail you a chip. Then just plug it in.

For Biostar flash recovery:

Copy the BIOS file to flash drive, plug it in with the computer off. Hold down Ctrl + Home keys while turning on, maybe for a few seconds, then release. If worked, the BIOS will try to flash.

You may have to rename the BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM if the original file name doesn't work.

I tried this method with no success, it doesn't seem to be attempting to access the flash drive before it reboots itself.

I'm not sure if it is socketed but I think it'll be easier just to order a replacement motherboard from newegg rather than trying to deal with Biostar's customer service.

Thanks for the help anyway guys, looks like I just have to replace it.
