BIOS update help

I'm trying to flash the BIOS on a ECS K7S5A, boot from floppy, try to run ami818.exe, tells me
chipset/flash part isn't available. the function will be invalid

any help, please?

hmm, perhaps you have a setting in bios which allows bios update but it's presently set to disable!

I had a MB with an AMI BIOS once, got the same message, went back in, turned off the bios cache, and it worked... also, unlike some flashers, I couldn;t get it to run without specifying the name of the rom at the command prompt, seperated by a space of course.

I looked in BIOS for something to disable or enable, nothing there
I tried entering the .rom file name after the ami.exe, with a space, and nothing, well actually I got the same errror.

I shall try the disable BIOS cache

ok
I figured it out
had to get a different flash.exe
and run from hard drive
worked so well, I flashed 4 different bios's until I got the one I wanted
