I have the Asus A7V8X. During a bios update the computer froze. The PC is now not bootable. Should I assume the worst here? Do I have to replace the bios? Any help well apperciated.

you may have tried to install corrupt bios, or there could have been an issue with your floppy disk, assuming that is the method you used to update.

try removing the CMOS battery to reset the CMOS memory and see if you have any success after that. instructions for this are on the Asus website... if i recall correctly, the A7V8X has a jumper which also has to be momentarily moved from 1-2 to 2-3 to do this.

Try to clear cmos using jumper. Were you overclocked when flashing?
Otherwise contact asus to order a new bios chip.

some bios have a protected boot block that will try and load an image from floppy. does the floppy try to seek during boot over and over? if so you might be in luck, if not.. prolly need a new chip.
