Greetings, all. I own a Jetway Atom 330 CPU/motherboard combo and failed miserably with a BIOS mod/update this weekend. Jetway had released a new BIOS for the motherboard but left out the setting to initialize PCI/PCI-E graphics before onboard graphics, and I attempted to add it back with MODBIN6. Things went well until I flashed the modified BIOS onto the motherboard, and I now have no POST.

I've tried a PCI, PCI-E, and onboard graphics, but get no output to the monitor. I've also created a boot floppy with an AUTOEXEC.BAT that should automatically load the BIOS flash tool and flash the BIOS, but the floppy drive is never accessed.

The motherboard uses an Award BIOS and the chip is a "Winbond 25X80AVAIZ" 8-pin DIP in a socket.

I could try a "hot flash" but the only other "modern" motherboard that I have available is AMD/ATI with an AMI BIOS. I haven't checked to see what kind of BIOS chip this motherboard uses, so I don't know if it's even compatible or if I can hot flash an Award BIOS when booted up from an AMI BIOS.

Any suggestions on an online vendor that sells reasonably-priced BIOS replacements, or any other suggestions to help me in my time of need?

Try flashing using a flash drive? Try flashing using a CD?

I don't think this is recoverable and it would be time to buy a new motherboard...

Thanks for the reply. There are online vendors that can sell me a replacement pre-flashed BIOS chip, so I don't need a new motherboard. I've never dealt with any of these vendors, though, and that is why I am asking for recommendations.

Do a google search for flashcd.iso

it is a small file that allows you to add your bios to the iso file via a suggested method.
then you burn it to a CD then reboot the computer it will reflash the bios.

Obviously at this point you will need a second computer to prepare the cd but that is a minor issue.

Thanks for the reply. Alas, the motherboard isn't accessing any drives when I turn it on so it can't flash from CD, floppy, etc.

The only way I'll be able to boot this motherboard again is if I plug in a pre-flashed BIOS chip.

I was hopign you had a Pheonix BIOS and could use the recovery system (Windows key + B forces update via flash drive, saved many a bricked HP laptop with it). The only thing I can see is a replacement flash chip, sans trying the floppy method again, make sure the syntax of your .bat is absolutely perfect. The chip, unless completely corrupted, should have a small reserve bit set that's never touched by flashes to tell it to read from floppy, which is what the .bat is designed to use. If it won't read, for some reason it has been completely corrupted.

I ended up ordering a replacement BIOS chip from this eBay seller for $11 including shipping:

link removed

I ordered on November 3 around 11pm and received it today (November 6) via USPS. SUCCESS!!! I plugged the new chip in, set things up, and I'm back up and running!

I'm so happy!

No linking to ebay due to spam potential

I always make a copy of any socketed BIOS chip. It's saved my life a few times.
