I just upgraded a machine from a Athlon 2500+ barton with 1GB ram to a Athlon 64 X2 5600+ with 4GB ram. I know the 5600 is not the hottest thing out but I expected a little more from it. I'm wondering if there might be some bios setting you all recommend for a 780G chipset that I'm not aware of.

Also, there is an option called cool and quiet in the bios. SHould that be enabled or disabled.

What kind of overclock should I expect with the stock AMD cooler. I know you can't expect much with a stock cooler but I'm wondering what kind of FSB I can expect.

Foxconn bundled some software that will allow me to play around with speeds and voltages from within windows.

I went snooping around in the Bios and took a closer look at the memory settings. They were set to auto.

But in Scisoft Sandra I see this:
Chipset
Model : AMD Athlon 64 / Opteron HyperTransport Technology Configuration
Front Side Bus Speed : 2x 1GHz (2GHz)
Total Memory : 4GB DIMM DDR2
Memory Bus Speed : 2x 363MHz (726MHz)

Doesn't that indicate that my memory is not running at full speed? I'm using CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) and the foxconn coard is supposed to support up to DDR2 1066

Alright, get a look at these two pics.
CPU-Z at 2900mhz
CPU-Z at 3200mhz

The pics show CPU-Z next to the Fox One software. CPU-Z shows my vcore at 1.9V! while the Fox ONe software shows it at stock 1.34V.

When I go into Sandra it warns me that my vcore is above spec.

In my Bios I read:
Current CPU Speed 2900mhz
Current FSB/HTT 1000mhz
Current CPU Multiplier 14.5x
Current Dram Speed 800mhz
Cpu Core 1.344V
Dram Voltage 1.904V

So is it possible that CPU-Z is reading my dram voltage as vcore?

As for the overclock, seems very stable so far. Hasn't crashed any while encoding AVC video. And CPU temp hasn't risen above 48.

the temp of CPU is great...compare to my mine 50@ overclocked with a cpu core 1.5OV , I think you have a lot way to go, I will start with a low HTT to push the FSB

Now sure I get what you are referring to?

Whats your take on the vcore reading 1.9V?

Does CPU-Z still read 1.9V when all of the other programs are closed? IIRC, CPU-Z conflicts with other apps that also read voltages, etc.
