BIOS successor

I remember reading some news clippings about Intel's successor to BIOS. I wanted to see if any new developments have been made, but I can't remember what it was called for the life of me. I think it began with an "f," and googling "BIOS replacement" yielded "tiano" as a possible name. Tiano, of course, isn't referenced in anything but the document I found...

I'm mainly interested in when it may make its way into consumer products..

It's been referred to as EFI or the Framework, but the Framework will be it's common name.

Just this week, Intel (and it's partners in this endeavor) presented it to ~450 of engineers (from over 50 countries) in Taiwan. It was a four day event that included demonstrations and training.

I'm not sure when we'll actually start to see it in our desktops, though.
