I have a Sony Vaio PCG-FX370 notebook
? Recently my (Original 20GB) hard drive fried. I cannot Use it any more
? I bought a new hard drive a similar 20GB and was unable to install it.
? The problem seems to be the bios.
? The bios shows as 28.5 GB as the primary IDE adapter.
? I changed the Primary IDE adapter to the USER settings and used the CHS format disabling and enabling LBA
? The BIOS still shows the primary IDE adapter to be 28.5GB.
? So I updated the bios and the problem still exists.
? I tried to format using fdisk from windows ME boot disk. But It didn?t help.
? I tried a Windows XP pro Installation CD and it sees the hard disk size to be 69GB and won?t allow to format.
The replaced drive is IBM travelstar which is same as the original.
Can someone please let me know why the bios is showing more harddisk size than the actual?
