BIOS sees CPU at wrong speed

OK,

My machine (described in profile below) has an Abit IC7-G and previously ran with a P4-2.4C. In order to diagnose a possible CPU failure, I swapped in a P4-3.2E. On boot, the BIOS identifies the CPU brand as an Intel P4 3.2 but identifies the main processor as P4 2.8 (200 x 14.0).

When I go into BIOS softmenu setup, under CPU default it shows a P4 2.8 where it should show a 3.2. What gives/how to correct?

Thanks again.

Sure, I can set the speed under user defined settings, but I guess what I am really asking is why won' t the bios see the processor as a 3.2?
