Is there any program that can take screenshots of the BIOS?

Not that I have seen. Most articles etc I've seen someone has taken a pic with a (digital) camera.

Unless you are running the display through another computer or some special device which can capture the screen (ie hardware, not software) then I don't think it would be possible. But I would like to be proved wrong here though!!

Ahh ok.... I'm just going to reformat & would much rather print out screenshots to look at all my current settings than have to write them down.

I have seen screenshots before, but as you said, these were probably taken with a digital camera.

It isn't possible on the machine that's posting. No applications can run during POST. I don't think there's enough processing power in the BIOS (or space to store) to run any sort of app that could store it in flash or anything.

You could however plug in a converter to TV output (I don't think you can make them display through a TV out port during boot) and either use a VCR, or use the video in function on another machine.

Or just take a picture.

Ooh, does Polaroid still make those picture taking thingies that connected to a VCR? Reviewers should use those.

Hmmmm..... I have another machine networked to this machine, but thats a few rooms away.....anyway to do it with the other machine? Guess not since the network won't work unless windows is running....

If you're just formatting/reinstalling Windows, then your BIOS settings won't be changed at all, so you won't need to worry. You will only need to take a record of them if you're changing the BIOS chip or are resetting the BIOS for any reason!!

If you're overclocking, and it won't POST, turn the power off, press and hold the Insert key on the keyboard, and turn the power on, that will allow you to boot at standard CPU/FSB speeds. No need to reset the whole BIOS that way
