Bios screen having a 'bad hair day' ...

Weird.

Yesterday I wanted to check a bios setting. Got to the main bios screen, and hit key to select/highlight the bios section I wanted to view...

As soon as I did this, all Hell broke loose. The highlighted section of the bios I just tried to select would cycle to the next bios section CONSTANTLY, one after another, and continue...and would not stop. I could not get it to stop.

What is going on? Same thing happened today.

Only other thing happening with the rig lately, is that I got a replacement EVGA nVidia 280 vid card for one that was over-heating and was about a year old. I am using the latest stable drivers. Nothing else misbehaving.

My rig is listed below. (I do have the latest MB bios...1237) Any ideas?

Sorry, it is a bit hard to describe...

Yes, it continually jumps to the next bios section, one after another. The only way to get out is to do a soft re-start. Kind of scary. The MB is about 14 months old, and it was a warranty-replacement. It has worked fine since I've had it.

Have you tried a different keyboard? Not that its likely but some keyboards, especially higher end ones, don't interface well with the BIOS. A PS2 keyboard would be the way to go if you have one lying around.

That's all I can think of beyond a MoBo problem...

Maybe try moving the CMOS jumper?

Ah...KB.... that's a possibility. Within the last 6-8 months I bought a DAS KB...

I'll try the old, cheap one... maybe that's it...THX... any other thoughts?

You may also have a stuck key on the keyboard. As DevilPapaya stated you can rule out the keybord completely by trying a different one, preferably with a PS2 interface.
