I'm trying to get a computer up in and running and I'm getting a Bios Rom Checksum Error.
I tried 2 different boards, same error.
First one is a Abit KT7-A with the VIA KT133 chipset
Second one is a Abit KG7-RAID with the AMD 761 chipset.
I used the same processor for both. Athlon 1200
Had PC100 128MB RAM on the first board
Had PC2100 DDR 128 RAM on the second board.

I reflashed the BIOS on board one to the latest version, I have same error and now the I can't even boot to a floppy it hangs at "Reading Drive Media 1.44MB"

I can't even use a boot disk on the 2nd board at all.
Changed CMOS batteries on both, used different power supplies (250W, 450W)
I didn't think a Checksum error was related to the processor, the only thing I haven't been able to try was a new processor.

Is it possible that I have two bad boards? Board #2 was working for sure 1.5 years ago with the processor in question because that was my old PC before I upgraded the board and chip. Board #1 was working about 3 years ago witha different processor that I no longer have.
Also noticed that the number pad of the keyboard doesn't work. If I push a a number it turns on the capslock and I can't turn it off. I tried 2 seperate working keyboards on both boards.
Other avenues I haven't pursued would be appreciated.
Thanks,
