Bios Rom Check Sum Error

Why would the file name account for a random checksum error? Does the checksum error appear at boot and you can't enter the OS? If so I will ballpark it and say get a new CMOS battery.
 
Well, the filename is preventing me from updating the Bios. But I am locked out of my OS or anything else for that matter. A boot disk won't do anything, nor does a windows cd. As soon as my computer turns on it displays my video card info, then sends me straight the the Check Sum Error screen.

A new battery huh? Mmk, I'll look into that. Any more helps appreciated though.
 
Eh, the battery didn't work. I had one from my previous system that was workign fine, and nothing was different. Same problems 🙁
