Ok, I just recently built my first system (about 3 months ago) It has been working great so far and I hadn't had any issues... until today.
Anyhow. I went out to see King Kong and when I came back I went up to my room and i see my computer sitting there in DOS with the Bios Rom Check Sum Error. I popped in my motherboard cd, and I used the Bios flash tool to fix it, it all goes normal. It tells me to reset my computer. I do so. The error comes up again, and I have to do the Bios Flash thing again.
Well basically this keeps happening. I have tried a few times to update the Bios, but I am not having any luck. I removed the battery, and changed the jumper so I could reset my CMOS, but that didn't help either.
The reason the update will not work is because after I download the update, I have to rename the .bin file to the correct name for my hardware. But its very strange, in the flash utility the file comes up with having 3 spaces before the .bin, so it looks like this:
"A8N5X .BIN"
rather than:
"A8N5X.BIN"
So it appears that the flash utility will not recognize this as the correct file, and therefore will not complete the update.
My ststem specs are as follows:
Asus A8N5X Motherboard (Socket 939)
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU
1 gigabyte of Corsair Ram (2 x 512 sticks)
GeForce 6800GT 256GDDR
Western Digital 160 gig hard drive
So if I could get any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Basically at the very least I wanna know if I should send back my mobo and get a new one, or if this problem is fixable.
Thanks in advance and if you need any more info I will gladly provide it so just ask!
