My BIOS is reporting my Teac cd burner as "CD-W513EC ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !"

Sometimes it can read CDs and sometimes it cannot. I've never had a problem with it before and I just put it in a different machine and this popped up.

Any ideas on why it's doing this?

Edit: I changed the Teac drive to Slave and put a different IDE cable on it. Seems to be working just great now. The BIOS isn't reporting the "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" either.

Conflict with another device on the same ide channel, if you've just added a secondary hd/cd-rom/etc. that's the culprit, the Teac & the other device don't like each other.

The Teac drive is on a channel by itself.

IDE 1 is a Seagate 20gb hdd

IDE 2 is the Teac drive

Haven't tried a different IDE cable yet, I'll give that a try right now.
