I just downloaded a new BIOS and flash utility from ECS to update my ECS k7VZA rev3.0.

It says to put the files on a floppy, and also to put a bunch of files to make a DOS boot disk on the floppy.

but as far as i know, you can't make a DOS boot disk for win2k. how can i get into a dos prompt outside of windows to boot into dos?

Or is there another way for me to flash the BIOS?

thanks if you have any tips

Do you know anyone at home/work/school with a Win98 computer? They can make a boot diskette for you easy as pie. Put in diskette, start an MS-DOS prompt from Start > Programs, and type format a: /s (there is a space between the : and the /). Then you can copy the flash utility and the BIOS file onto the floppy and follow the instructions on page 39 of your manual (downloadable from www.ecsusa.com if needed).

With XP when you format the floppy just select make ms-dos start up disk. Not sure if 2000 has that option.

Nope Win2K can't do it. Easier to just download it or find an XP or Win9X machine and do it.
