bios question

I just upgraded my CPU. I forgot what the last BIOS update I flashed to was. Will the machine post with the BIOS splash screen (and just not allow me into windows) if the CPU is incompatible, or will the screen just be blank?

That's not the problem, sorry about that. I found that the right BIOS was on my flash drive. I also installed a new hard drive and in addition to that, I had to move my video card to the other PCI-E slot since the new hard drive and cables were blocking the PCI-E slot that I previously had it in. Was there anything I was supposed to change in the bios before plugging in the new hard drive? I wasn't supposed to change it to AHCI, was I?
