Bios Question - Abit NF7-S 1.2

Hey guys. I run the mobo listed in the title and had a question about the newest bios. I have been told that the new bios apparently fixes the god awful 'bios corruption' issues that we all love in the nforce2 chipset. Is there any validity to this claim?

The reason I'm asking is because I am still using the bios that shipped with the board, and after hearing about the bug I decided to just chill out with my OC efforts until a fix was made available.

Any information would be appreciated.

Well, mine is a rev. 2.0 board, but I can say that I have never had any problems with the corruption issue with any version of the BIOS that I was running, no matter how many changes I had made in the BIOS.

I dont know. I'm still using IDE rather than SATA.

I think it was fixed with a BIOS option added in BIOS 19.
(some read/ write Harddisk Millisecond thing)

Check the Abit forums for the facts.

He is not talking about the SATA corruption, He is talking about bios corruption. From what i head read, early revisions of the board had bios problems. If you tried to save things in the bios, it would become corrupt. I don't know if it has been fixed in the latest bios but i thought i would clear up the confusion.

Opps,,, sorry my mistake.

I think think the BIOS corruption thing is still around. I dont think the BIOS fixed that.

I personally haven't had that happen to me. Although it HAS hung on 'saving setting - dont power off' a few times.
(i just waited about a minute in that case,,, then re-powered)

It's only during FSB changes that the corruption occures. I dont make alot of rapid changes in FSB, maybe thats why I havent been 'HIT' with it. So, if you have your other settings permanent, and want to chage FSB now,,, do it slowly.
(IE. dont do FSB change every few minutes. )

Although, I may buy the 'BIOS savior' sometime (just to make sure).

Okay guys I figure if you all are not 100% certain then more than likely this has not been repaired. I'll be sure to keep your advice handy Noid whenever I start bumping it up again. Now that I know that the board is reading 10 degrees heavy in my current bios I know I can take it much higher so I might as well.
