I would so appreciate any assistance with this problem.
I had a HDD (Hitachi 80 GB 8MB 7200 SATA HD) go bad about 2 months ago and Hitachi replaced it with a new one. Then yesterday the new drive again went bad and I had to switch to my backup drive. I run HD Tach software to check the health of the drive. After switching over to my backup drive and not using the drive that went bad, I tested it again and it now seems ok. (I tested it 4 times yesterday when it went bad and every test showed it was defective exactly like the last along with the same computer problems.) I have no spyeware or viruses and run Zone Alarm internet security and Webroot Spy Sweeper - nothing else in startup.
Anyway somoene recommended I update my BIOS. So I went from 1013 to 1016.And here is the problem. With the BIOS update I can no longer get into BIOS setup. On bootup, when it says enter the delete key if you want to get into BIOS setup, I end up in a window to configure my drives for SATA (which I do not use). From there it goes to a blank screen with a flashing cursor and stays there forever unless I shut the computer off manually.
Yes I have reflashed the BIOS several times with the same result. Can someone please offer a suggestion that helps me get back into BIOS setup to reconfigure the changes.
Many thanks
